Why does the job exist?
Corrections Industries provides work opportunities that will help offenders achieve marketable job skills in preparation for a successful reentry back to the community. This position oversees day-to-day operations and functions at our furniture shop in Los Lunas. This position will have direct oversight of Corrections Officer Specialists and Inmates, and will be responsible for management of inventory, production of work orders, staff schedules, inmate employment, customer service, assisting with purchase requests and working with Central Office management to ensure the daily operations of the Los Lunas shop is running efficiently.
How does it get done?
A Bachelor's degree in any field of study from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of heavy supervisory or limited professional level experience operating within strict parameters and guidelines directly related to the purpose of the position defined by the agency at the time of recruitment. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience. A hiring agency may designate that a portion of the required experience to include supervisory and/or specialized experience. Any required licensure, certification or registration shall be defined at the time of recruitment and will be in addition to the above requirements.
Employment Requirements
This position is designed safety sensitive. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random testing in accordance with all terms and conditions of Federal and State law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Pre-employment background check is required and conditional pending results.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an adult prison environment, which includes daily contact with and supervision of inmates. Willingness to work in a correctional facility, may be required to work odd hours, overtime, holidays, and weekends.
