Why does the job exist?
The primary function of this position is to process criminal record checks for prospective foster/adoptive parents who reside in the state of New Mexico. Criminal record checks are conducted to identify potential automatic disqualifying criminal charges of adult applicants to ensure the safety, permanency and well being of children who are in foster care or being adopted in the State of New Mexico.
How does it get done?
The incumbent is required to interact with external entities such as the courts, attorney's, law enforcement to investigate any criminal history information when processing criminal record checks. (40%)
Incumbent is responsible for ensuring compliance with all federal and state regulations related to Criminal History Record Information (CHRI}, federally mandated automatic dis qualifiers, child abuse and neglect checks via the Family Automated Client Tracking System (FACTS), CYFD PS policies, procedures as it pertains to criminal record checks, licensing prospective foster homes and the Adoption Act. (40%)
Incumbent shall be responsive to internal and external parties in accordance with the State of NM Employee and CYFD's policies and procedures. (10%)
Incumbent will help create a culture that promotes accountability and support through self-assessment. (10%)
Minimum Qualification
High School diploma or Equivalency and two (2) years of experience in office administration, budgeting, purchasing, finance, accounting, auditing, cash management, and/or contract management. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess a current and valid Driver's License. Pre-employment background investigation is required and conditional pending results.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required.
