The Administrative Services Division (ASD) is responsible for providing fiscal support and guidance to all programs and bureaus within the Department. We offer central direction to ensure consistent compliance with the initiatives of the Department as well as state and federal regulatory requirements.
Why does the job exist?
This position will assist the ASD Director to provide comprehensive and broad ranging consultation and guidance to the Secretary of Education and high-level Sr. Managers of the Agency. A primary function is to make independent decisions related to compliance with Federal and State Laws and Regulations. Typical decisions include methods required to achieve goals and produce outcomes necessary to successfully obtain federal and state funding, execute over 400 Intergovernmental Agreements and Contracts on an annual basis. One of the primary duties of the new ASD Deputy Director position is to ensure that projects and policies get completed in a timely manner across all four bureaus. The responsibility of this Deputy ASD Director is to assist the ASD Director to make sure that all other staff members and employees carry out any new mandates and build effective work systems.

Minimum Qualification
A Master's degree in any field of study from an accredited college or university and eight (8) years of professional level experience with a strategic impact directly related to the purpose of the position defined by the agency at the time of recruitment. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling fourteen (14) years may substitute for the required education and experience. A hiring agency will designate a portion of the required experience to include management and/or specialized experience. Any required licensure, certification or registration shall be defined at the time of recruitment and will be in addition to the above requirements.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico's Driver's License.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required.

- Directing the bureaus: Fiscal Grants Management, Audit and Accounting, Budget, and Purchasing and Accounts Payable.
- Hire, termination, evaluation of performance, mentoring, coaching, goal setting, performance and procedural training, personal professional development, communication, providing communications from upper management, and directing staff meetings, etc.
- Ensure integrity of internal fiscal training and manage adherence of all staff as it pertains to Procurement Code, Mileage and Per Diem Act, DFA Rules and Regulations, Fixed Assets, GSD Rules and Regulations, State Budget Division rules and regulation (on state budgets and capital projects), State Personnel Rules, Vehicle acquisitions, and building and property logistics.
