The General Services Department (GSD) supports the operations of state government by providing essential services, including procurement, risk management, facilities management, transportation services, and printing services. The Facilities Management Division (FMD) is responsible for the maintenance, operation, and renovation of state-owned buildings and facilities. FMD ensures that state workplaces are safe, functional, and sustainable, supporting the daily operations of government agencies across New Mexico.

The FMD Capital Projects Purchasing Agent performs complex review and entry into the State SHARE financial system. This position assists all procurement specialists and their respective project managers to ensure compliance with all State, Federal and Local rules and regulations. This position communicates with other state agencies and primarily is the point of contact for FMD with the Department of Finance and Administration Financial Control Division.

Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Business or Accounting and Finance and two (2) years of experience in accounting, finance, purchasing, procurement, and/or warehouse clerking. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
Exposure to Visual/Video Display terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer, telephone usage and periods of sitting.

- Conducting detailed reviews of contract documents to verify compliance with state, federal, and local procurement regulations before processing purchase orders.
- Communicating with procurement specialists to review quotes, confirm budget alignment, and ensure accurate documentation within the State Financial system.
- Processing purchase orders in a timely manner to support all Facilities Management Division (FMD) projects.
- Assisting procurement specialists and contract staff with daily operations, including troubleshooting issues in SHARE and ensuring timely cost package processing.
- Collaborating with the bureau chief on daily procurement activities and Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
- Supporting the lead procurement specialist with Central Purchasing and Material Requirements (CPMR) processes and procedures.
- Assisting with internal controls and serving as a backup to procurement specialists as needed.
