Accounting and Audit: Accounting monitors the Departments accounts. The bureau ensures all financial transactions are in compliance with state and federal laws. Audit monitors and reviews school district and charter school federal and state compliance laws, rules and regulations.
Why does the job exist?
Financial Specialist, All Other- Advanced help to ensure that the agency runs efficiently, public records kept accurately, invoices paid properly and on time. This position will analyze and communicate financial information for various bureaus and programs, school districts, charter schools, and suppliers. Beyond carrying out the fundamental tasks of the occupation, this position will complete timely scanning and filing of daily deposits, federal draw reconciliation packets, and journal entries. This position will provide assistance to the Accounting Supervisor to prepare for the CMIA annual audit conducted by the State Treasurers Office.
How does it get done?
Review daily deposits in SHARE Financial Accounting System and Cybersource for accuracy in cash deposits made for the agency and for the Licensure Bureau. Compile the daily accounting source documents completed by the Accounting Supervisor and Financial Coordinator-Advanced positions Scan, file, and organize the accounting records and save the files to the internal network system for the external auditors. Prepare and compile the CMIA source documents for the NM State Treasurer Office's annual audit.

Internal customers: Management, ASD bureaus, and various program departments. External customers: school districts, charter schools, Federal and State Auditors.

Minimum Qualification
High School diploma or Equivalency and two (2) years experience in bookkeeping, accounting, and/or finance. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico's Driver's License.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required.
