GSD's professional staff provides multiple lines of insurance coverage, litigation defense, loss prevention and alternative dispute resolution services; facility planning and design services and construction management; building and landscape maintenance services; vehicle leasing and air transportation services; technical support for agencies in the procurement process; printing and graphic art products; and financial and accounting services. Why does the job exist?
This positions functions as the Asset Financial Coordinator for the Administrative Services Division. This position assists with the financial accounting records for fixed assets, reports on these resources on behalf of the General Services Department (GSD) and assets assigned to GSD. This position will work closely with leadership to assist with establishing fixed asset accounting and financial reporting policies and procedures, as promulgated by State statutes, New Mexico Administrative Code, GAAP, and Governmental Accounting Standards Board.
How does it get done?
This is a high-level strategic planning and risk management position with responsibility for assisting with developing and implementing a comprehensive program to manage the Department's key fixed assets, maximizing value and minimizing risk.

Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration and five (5) years of directly related experience in budgeting, accounting, and/or auditing. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling nine (9) years may substitute for the required education and experience. For use at the State Investment Council only: any budgeting, accounting, and/or auditing experience is acceptable.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily in an office setting at the Joseph Montoya Building with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Work extended hours and occasional travel may be required. Sitting/Standing, bending, squatting, climbing, and reaching for extended periods of time may be required.

- Identification and evaluation of fixed assets, such as facilities, land, maintenance equipment, vehicles, etc.
- Assist with maintaining an inclusive fixed asset inventory that coordinates multi-department holdings.
- Assist with the development and implementation of fixed asset capital and operations and maintenance plan, instituting related policies and procedures, and generally planning for present and future needs regarding assets and associated performance.
- Assist with developing and implementing optimal asset intervention strategies appropriate to asset type (e.g. vehicles and machines vs. building and land), in accordance with professional standards and best practice procedures.
- Tracking coordination of communication and exchange of information across the state to ensure participation in, and adherence to, asset management system procedures and practices, including providing training and operations and maintenance monitoring as needed.
