This job contributes to the agency by managing the accounting activities and providing direction to the staff of the General Ledger Bureau to ensure quality accounting data is produced to ensure management intent is followed in accordance with State and Federal laws as well as DFA, MAPs, GAAP, and GASB requirements.

General Leger Manager Responsibilities:
Customers include Office of the Secretary, Administrative Services Division, Enterprise Services, Compliance and Project Management, the Office of Broadband Access and Expansion, and external customers.

Minimum Qualification
A Bachelor's degree in any field of study from an accredited college or university and eight (8) years of professional level experience with a light strategic impact directly related to the purpose of the position defined by the agency at the time of recruitment. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling twelve (12) years may substitute for the required education and experience. A hiring agency will designate a portion of the required experience to include management, supervisory and/or specialized experience. Any required licensure, certification or registration shall be defined at the time of recruitment and will be in addition to the above requirements.
Employment Requirements
Pre-employment background investigation is required and employment is conditional pending results.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage.

How does it get done?
General Leger Manager Responsibilities:
- Leads financial services, including accounts receivables, and general ledger teams¿two (2) Full Time Equivalent (FTE) managers
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, accounting records, notes, schedules and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness and compliance with:
- New Mexico State Audit Rule
- Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP)
- Governmental Auditing Standards (GAS),
- Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB),
- Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB)
- Department of Finance and Administration (DFA) Manual of Model Accounting Practices (MAPs).
- Provides asset management duties within the general ledger
- Ensure that agency bills are completed accurately
- Mitigates from over payments to creditors
- Oversee general ledger budget--reconciling funds and expenditures
- Oversee accounts receivable and serves as point of escalation where needed
- Serves as point of escalation for unresolved collections
- Serves as accounts receivable oversight/compliance and backup where necessary
