The NM Department of Health's Medical Cannabis Program Division works to enroll patients in the Medical Cannabis Program and ensure compliance with statute, rules, and regulations regarding enrollment. The Medical Cannabis Program also educates individuals, community partners, law enforcement, judiciary, and other partners regarding the effects of cannabis use. The program also gathers and compiles statistics on patient use and access.

The position provides outreach and education, including the development of training materials for the Medical Cannabis Program. The position also helps with the gathering, compilation, analysis, and dissemination of health information regarding medical cannabis and cannabis use.
How does it get done?
The position works closely with the Medical Cannabis Program Director and Medical Director to provide outreach and create educational materials. Provides presentations to constituents and stakeholders. Organize public meetings. Review patient applications. Work with the patient registry development and use, including generating reports. Other duties as assigned.

Customers include patients, the general public, coworkers, law enforcement agencies, community partners, other state agencies, and internal Department of Health partners, such as Epidemiology and Response Division.

Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Public Health or Education and two (2) years of experience in a health related field. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive
personal computer and phone usage. In-state and out-of state travel may be required. Ability to lift up to 40
pounds.
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some travel may be required.
