Why does the job exist?
This position is responsible for but not limited to preparing, scanning, indexing, verifying for clarity and accuracy of various documents produced by the agency into the records imaging system, and will provide advanced consultation and direction the Educational Retirement Board's (ERB) Records Management Unit.
How does it get done?
The position will work with the Member Services Director and the Information and Records team to accomplish ERB's goals and manage the agency's record retention. The incumbent will perform or oversee the submission and withdrawal of records from SRCA. The position will provide advanced consultation and direction for imaging, and records storage concepts to ERB employees and supervisors / management and demonstrate accuracy in the work performed. Also, this position will prepare the original documents for retention and disposition in accordance with the established records retention schedule. The incumbent will also assist with incoming and outgoing distribution of all agency mail, and perform additional duties as needed.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have the following experience :
1. Performing courier duties, and processing of agency mail.
2. Preparing confidential documents for scanning and indexing.
3. Knowledge of agency record retention by applying policies and principles.
4. Strong critical thinking skills and able to communicate effectively.
Minimum Qualification
High School Diploma or equivalent and six (6) months work experience in customer service, records management techniques and procedures. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and / or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) months may substitute for the required experience.

Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting within a law enforcement environment, with significant sitting, exposure to confidential information and armed personnel, extensive computer usage, and high volume data flow.
