Public Health Division Southwest Region is comprised of eight counties and works to promote health and wellness, improve health outcomes, and assure safety net services for all people in New Mexico.
Why does the job exist?
The position will provide first line customer service to the public and support clinical services for the Las Cruces Public Health Office and other health offices as needed. Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two weeks of closing date.

Minimum Qualification
Eighth grade education.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. Successful completion of Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act (HIPPA) and successful completion of Clinical Laboratory Improvements Act (CLIA) courses are required within sixty (60) days of employment.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Lifting up to 50 pounds may be required. Services are provided in a clinic with diverse population, many who do not speak the English language. Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm. Travel to satellite offices, meetings, training sessions, and special events with the occasional overnight stay is required.

- Scheduling clients, scanning and sorting medical records into Electronic Health Record (EHR), fee collection and documentation, taking messages for nurses and clinicians and appointment reminder calls.
- Utilizing the Billing and Electronic Health Record (BEHR) system and the New Mexico State Immunization Information System (NMSIIS) data.
- Provide Harm Reduction services and participate in outreach and Emergency Preparedness activities.
- Managing and processing office and medical supply orders.
