Why does the job exist?
The NMBHI Purchasing Department plays a primary role for offering great customer service to our facility, vendors, patients, clients, and residents. This position supports purchasing/procurement activities at the NMBHI. Position is responsible for centralized procurement of goods and services, preparing and analyzing of purchase/change orders, maintaining budget and corresponding financial records related to procurement and contract services. Position creates purchase orders/requisitions on the State of New Mexico's SHARE System {Financial Section), processes orders for goods/services, follows-up with vendors on order statuses and discrepancies, creates Change Orders as required, and clears invoices for payment. Incumbent will work closely with NMBHI staff to obtain receiving reports and verify accuracy of shipments/conformity to Purchase Orders. Incumbent will obtain W-9 forms, maintain the Internal Purchase Requisition (IPR) tracking log, request quotes for goods/services, while providing excellent customer service and building positive relationships with internal and external customers. This position will independently work closely with accounts payables and others within the Finance Department to ensure appropriate workflow of all items.

Incumbent will provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers working collaboratively with each to prepare/review/approve and support procurement processes. Incumbent will communicate daily with Finance Department staff and ensure procurement processes remain within the New Mexico Procurement Code.

Minimum Qualification
High School diploma or Equivalency and two (2) years of experience in accounting, finance, purchasing, procurement, and/or warehouse clerking. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License.
Working Conditions
This position will perform work in a behavioral health setting to include prolonged standing, walking, stooping, bending and lifting.
