The NM State Land Office has a Non-Emergency Telework Policy, which allows eligible employees to telework up to twenty-four (24) hours a week consistent with the agency's business needs.

Why does the job exist?
The New Mexico State Land Office, under the direction of Commissioner of Public Lands, manages nine million surface and 13 million mineral acres, referred to as state trust land, which was allocated to raise revenue for beneficiaries including the New Mexico public schools, hospitals, colleges, and other public institutions. This position assists the Records Division Director in managing daily operations and personnel of the Records Division.
How does it get done?
The Records Division is responsible for managing the permanent, archival, historical documents created at the Land Office, along with procedurally related documents. The Deputy Director assists the Records Division Director in assuring management of the those records to accurately reflect ownership and leasing activity on State Trust Lands, along with managing the request for records from agency staff and the public. The Records Division Deputy Director plays a key role in assisting to identify lands that may be available to produce new revenue sources, while ensuring the business continuity of the Land Office and preserving its historical records. The Deputy Director is responsible for ensuring accurate, organized, safe, effective records management compliant with the New Mexico Administrative Code (NMAC) and the documentation of the land activity on trust lands conforming to the State Land Office policies business practices, rules and regulations. The Deputy will manage a staff of nine analysts, title examiners and scanning technicians.

Minimum Qualification
A Bachelor's Degree in any field of study from an accredited college or university and five (5) years of professional level experience operating within parameters and guidelines directly related to the purpose of the position defined by the agency at the time of recruitment. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below. A hiring agency will designate that a portion of the required experience to include supervisory and/or specialized experience. Any required licensure, certification or registration shall be defined at the time of recruitment and will be in addition to the above requirements.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License.
Must obtain and maintain a state of New Mexico Defensive Driving Certificate.
Working Conditions
Work is performed primarily in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer to include working with computers, faxes, copiers and printers, and phone usage; with extended periods of sitting, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, reaching, kneeling and crawling. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
