Why does the job exist?
The Specialized Behavioral Health Services Coordinator will:
Provide general subject matter expertise to assigned behavioral health programs;
Provide oversight to assigned programs which includes but is not limited to reviewing, processing and approving applications, writing letters and technical reports;
Provide technical assistance to providers;
Conduct site visits to evaluate program performance;
Ensure implementation of program goals and outcomes, adherence to state and federal statues and guidelines; safety and service delivery; and monitoring financial and budgetary needs
Approve specialized behavioral health programs
Attend meetings as scheduled Behavioral Health Services Division (BHSD), Clinical Services Team meetings, and Program Coordinator Meetings with BHSD finance staff;
Collaborate with other departments, providers and constituents including The Children Youth and Families Department (CYFD), the Inter-departmental Council (IDC), the Medical Assistance Division of the Health Care Authority (MAD), and other departments as needed.

The Specialized Behavioral Health Services Coordinator is responsible for:
Researching systems and service delivery;
Evaluating provider and consumer needs regarding behavioral health services to include Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) and other specialized behavioral health services including Comprehensive Community Support Services (CCSS), Intensive Outpatient (IOP), PSR (Psycho Social Rehabilitation), and Adult Accredited Residential Treatment Center (AARTC);
Ensuring adherence to statutory requirements, department and division standards, quality improvement processes, work force issues, inclusion of best practice concepts and ensuring the use of evidence-based practices to services delivered;
Conducting Site Visits and provide ongoing support and technical assistance to providers;
Utilizing work experience, professional knowledge and clinical skills in the review, approval, denial of existing behavioral health services and programs;
Working toward improving upon and developing services to address the needs of New Mexicans, and developing processes to ensure service delivery is efficient and effective.

Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Guidance and Counseling, Education,
Sociology, Criminal Justice, Criminology, and/or Family Studies/Services and four (4) years of any combination of experience including working with communities, working on health or social service related matters, social work/case management experience, behavioral health, and/or health care. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related
field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling eight (8) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
Employment is subject to a pre-employment criminal background investigation and is conditional pending results.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting: late hours and weekends work may be required. Will be exposed to regular periods of video display terminal and keyboard usage and stressful situations. Travel may be required. Incumbent will work under stress and frequent time constraints. Must have own mode of transportation. Incumbent may be required to furnish a personal vehicle for carrying out assignments.
