This position will direct, oversee and plan work for the maintenance crew. Position will manage budget, equipment operations, manpower and materials for all highway road maintenance and construction activities; may operate medium to heavy duty equipment as needed, in a safe and efficient manner to maintain interstate roads, roadways and highways for the safety of the traveling public.

Budget allocation and spending.
Prioritizing, scheduling and assigning work.
Roadway quantity calculations.
Assessing road conditions and treatments.
Investigating accidents.
Ensure proper tools and equipment are available for work and dealing with equipment issues and replacement.

The traveling public and pedestrians.

Minimum Qualification
A Bachelor's degree in any field of study from an accredited college or university and five (5) years of professional level experience operating within parameters and guidelines directly related to the purpose of the position defined by the agency at the time of recruitment. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling nine (9) years may substitute for the required education and experience. A hiring agency will designate a portion of the required experience to include supervisory and/or specialized experience. Any required licensure, certification or registration shall be defined at the time of recruitment and will be in addition to the above requirements.
Employment Requirements
This position is designated a safety sensitive position within the meaning of the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act of 1991 and must abide by all provisions of the Federal Omnibus Transportation Testing Act. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random testing, in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Employment requires successful completion of a post-offer physical and pre-employment drug test; employment is conditional pending results. Must possess and maintain a valid License and must have and maintain a Class A Commercial Driver's License. Business reference checks and driver's license verification are also required, and employment is conditional pending results.

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage.
