Description of Work
Reporting to a Correctional Programs Supervisor, this position is primarily responsible for all aspects concerning caseload of offenders at a medium custody correctional facility. Job responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Carrying a caseload of offenders, which involves supportive counseling, conducting assessments, developing case plans, answer and follow up on offender questions and problems.
- Making recommendations to classification committee.
- Assisting in major dynamic programs or coordinate major or specialized programs for the rehabilitation of offenders, such as offender work assignments, work release, education, or recreation.
- Transition planning and coordinating.
- Planning and coordinating transition (re-entry) prior to parole or release into the community.

As of January 01, 2025, there are new increase adjustments to the state's pay plans which were approved by the State Human Resources Commission, effective January 01, 2025.

If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Associates degree in criminal justice, Human Services, Recreation or a related field from an appropriately accredited institution; or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of custody experience within the North Carolina Department of Public Safety; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Necessary Special Qualifications: Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
