Primary Purpose of Position

Do you enjoy being the go-to expert, solving problems, and keeping operations running smoothly behind the scenes? If you thrive in a role where organization meets impact, the Administrative Specialist I position at Morrow Mountain State Park might be your perfect fit! As a key member of the Parks and Recreation team, you'll serve as the vital link between the budget office and database staff, using your knowledge and analytical skills to track expenditures, generate reports, and ensure accuracy in financial processes. From interpreting policies to advising park operations on deposits and reservations, you'll play a critical role in keeping everything on track. This position offers a dynamic environment where your attention to detail, communication skills, and collaborative mindset will shine-all while supporting one of North Carolina's most beautiful and beloved state parks.

Key Responsibilities included but are not limited to

  • Serve as liaison between the budget office and application/database staff, as a 'subject matter expert'.
  • Track and report on expenditures and revenues for a variety of purposes from a variety of sources.
  • Â Acquire data to develop reports from a variety of data sources.
  • Assist/advise operations at the park level related to creating and auditing bank deposits and utilizing the Central Reservation System (CRS) to process payments for reservations and retail sales
  • Interpret and explain state and parks policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, officials, and public

Position/Physical Requirements

  • Typical work schedule Monday thru Friday 8:00 am -5:00 pm.
  • Must be available to work after hours, weekend, and holidays when necessary.
  • Must have a valid driver's license issued from within the United States or be able to obtain one within 90 days of employment

  • Demonstrated experience in customer service in person, via email and/or over the telephone.
  • Demonstrated experience with filing systems and/or maintaining record keeping.
  • Demonstrated experience processing invoices.
  • Demonstrated experience working with any of the following budget, travel reimbursement, and/or financial reports.

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma

AND

two years of related administrative experience;

OR

equivalent combination of education and experience.

Veteran's and National Guard PreferenceÂ

Applicants seeking Veteran's Preference must attach a DD Form 214, Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty, along with the state application.Â

Applicants seeking National Guard Preference must attach an NGB 23A (RPAS), along with the state application if they are a current member of the NC National Guard in good standing.Â

Applicants who are former member of either the NC Army National Guard or the NC Air National Guard, with honorable discharge and six years of creditable service must attach a copy of the DD 256 or NGB 22, along with the state application.Â
