As of January 1st, 2025, the new salary range will be $39,671 - $69,426. This position is located at DPS Juvenile Justice - Central Office in Raleigh (Wake County), NC.

This is an anticipated vacancy. The position is expected to be available on 2 / 3 / 2025.

The Administrative Specialist II position provides direct administrative support to the Director of Staff Development and Training as well as Section Coordinators by performing a variety of administrative activities to include, but not limited scheduling and coordinating meetings, preparing meeting minutes, maintaining records, document preparation, and the creation of forms and office procedures.

This position is responsible for :

  • Maintenance of records to include personnel files, travel logs, monthly inspections, monthly reports, contracts and purchasing files, record and retention as well as equipment inventory for fixed assets and surplus.
  • Fixed asset inventory control measures identifying, recording, transferring, and conducting periodic inventories.
  • Data collection and analysis, compiling data and generating reports for Section Managers and JJ Management upon request.
  • Preparing various reports to include, but not limited to staff monthly reports, training incident reports, and training project performance, etc.
  • Assisting in the research, writing, editing, and publication of quarterly statewide training bulletin.
  • Working with local and statewide vendors assisting with performance monitoring of services to include the review and processing of invoice statements.
  • Serving as the Section's P-Card reconciler responsible for the ongoing review of P-card transactions and bank records.
  • Overseeing daily administrative expenditures to include the review of internal purchases and small to large scale equipment.
  • Serving as the Section's Vehicle Coordinator working directly with DOA Motorfleet Management overseeing vehicle procurement, maintenance, accidents, inspections and requests for vehicle replacements and reassignments as needed.
  • Assisting with Human Resources processes to include obtaining HR references, preparing interview packets, and effectively communicates with DJJDP HR on any hiring obstacles.
  • Assisting with personnel documentation such as Personnel Action Requests (PAR) and Organizational Management Authorization Requests (OMAR).
  • Coordinating with DJJDP HR LOA staff on the Section's Worker's Compensation cases, ensuring claims and forms are completed accurately and submitted to a third-party administrator in a timely manner.
  • Providing functional supervision for interns assigned to the Staff Development and Training Section that includes coaching, guidance, and monitoring of internship projects and activities needed to satisfy internship program requirements.

The Division's Staff Development and Training Section aims to provide effective training programs and services for juvenile justice professionals, local, and state community partners. Training programs and services are designed to aid in employee job performance and productivity that further support juvenile justice philosophies and policies contributing to overall mission success.

This is a full-time position, Monday - Friday 8AM - 5PM.
