The position certifies deposits and transfer funds to cover disbursements via NCFS (North Carolina Financial System) and Core Banking. It reconciles discrepancies within Bank Balance by research different NCFS screens for accuracy. It ensures DWS Disbursing Account balance reconciles with State Treasurer’s Office and Office of State Controller balances. It provides upkeep of deposits, expenses, and disbursement logs in Excel Spreadsheet for Cash Management controls. The position creates, inputs, and verifies journal entry for all receipts into FARS. It verifies and post other journal entries as needed. It processes voids in FARS, and stop payment requests in CORE banking. It researches unclaimed wire transfers and gathers appropriate documentation to acquire funds. It processes Daily Bank Deposits and Transfers to and from various State Agencies. It provides backup duties for Cash Verification role, Time Administrator, and Temporary Solution invoice reconciliation. A candidate for this position should be a self-starter and capable of performing job requirements with minimal supervision. This position requires problem solving skills and good organization skills.

- Considerable knowledge of government accounting methods, procedures, and accounting practices needed to perform the work.
- Knowledge of a variety of technology, financial systems, and software packages to create and maintain data.
- Ability to develop formulas for moderately complex spreadsheets. This position must be able to apply Office of State Controller (OSC) payroll guidelines to process payroll in IHRPS.
- Ability to verify and ensure accuracy and validity of moderately complex transactions.
- Ability to examine accounting records to assure adherence to accounting standards and regulations.
- Ability to maintain and manage accounting records of moderate variety and complexity, including preparation of financial statements and reports.
- Ability to record, compile, summarize, analyze, and monitor data.
- Ability to explain and interpret financial information and to interpret oral and/or written guidelines to solve problems.
- Must be able to meet deadlines and have strong attention to detail.
- Must be able to exercise judgement and prioritize work in order to meet daily deadlines.
Associates degree in accounting from an appropriately accredited institution, or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two (2) years of experience in accounting work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
