The Community Employment Program Supervisor will manage various work areas across the campus and several off campus work sites. This will involve supervision of residents and staff working in a classroom/workshop setting and mobile work crews. The primary duties consist of obtaining/maintaining Supported Employment contracts, paper shredding contracts, and Competitive Integrated Employment opportunities for the residents. Daily contact with vendors, customers, and businesses is necessary. Surveying for viable contracts and marketing is a critical component for the success of the business and maintaining jobs for our residents. Other job responsibilities will include:

  • Development of community relationships to obtain and maintain meaningful employment opportunities for the residents while serving as the contact person for off campus vendors.
  • Coordination of contractual goals and training staff to ensure quality services are provided to meet contractual obligations, maintaining schedules, and satisfying guidelines for meeting wage and hour regulations.
  • Ensure the confidentiality of materials picked up for shredding is maintained and be able to monitor staff to ensure all procedures put into place are followed and documented.
  • Responsible for the content and distribution of the resident operated newsletter.
  • Directly and indirectly supervises, trains, evaluates, mentors, provides on-going oversight of training job duties, policies, procedures.
  • Ensures appropriate oversight of timekeeping for approximately 20 staff. 
  • Assists with interviewing and onboards new staff. 

Work Location: Vocational Services Department
Work Time:  7 AM - 3:30 PM, M-F

Qualified candidates must document on the application that they clearly possess all the following:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of application tasks, analysis techniques, behavior management, and supportive counseling techniques.  
  • Must have experience with teaching strategies to persons with intellectual/developmental disabilities. 
  • Must have supervisory experience, as well as programming experience (educational and vocational setting).
  • Ability and experience assessing skills, implementing and writing task analysis.
  • Evaluating progress and communicating data results in written and oral form.
  • Knowledge of  Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Wage and Hour Laws.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge of the effects of mental/physical disabilities on employment options. 
  • Ability to operate hand trucks, forklifts, and similar material moving tools.
  • Possession of CPI Certification and CPR.
  • Experience with training on-the-job skills to individuals with dual diagnosis (IDD/MI).
  • Supervisory experience, including the performance evaluation process.
Management Preferences:
  • Experience with procurement of Supported Employment contracts and Competitive Integrated Employment opportunities for residents with dual diagnosis (IDD/MI); community connections, customer friendly attitude, and self motivated independent worker. 
  • Must have computer skills. 
  • Experience working with school aged and adults with mild to severe intellectual developmental disabilities and mental illness  in vocational employment programs.
  • Experience working with wage and hour laws, training job analysis, writing quality work measurements, experience training on-the-job skills to individuals with dual diagnosis (IDD/MI).
  • Supervisory experience including the performance evaluation process, knowledge of ICF regulations, Interdisciplinary process, DHHS and Caswell APM policies and regulations;
  • Knowledge of housekeeping/janitorial knowledge and skills, billing for contractual services, and resident payroll procedures. 
Physical Requirements:
  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force
    frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Other: Stooping, Kneeling, Crouching, Reaching, Standing, Walking, Pushing, Pulling, Lifting, Fingering, Grasping, Feeling, Talking, Hearing, Repetitive Motions, Visual Acuity, Inside and Outside Activities.

Bachelor's  degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in therapeutic or vocational programming which involves program/goal planning, task analysis, or teaching; 
or 

Associate's degree in a human services field from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of experience in therapeutic or vocational programming which involves program/goal planning;

 or

an equivalent combination of education and experience.
