Description of Work
As of January 1, 2025, the new salary range will be $43,738-$76,542.

The Standards Division is a regulatory agency responsible for enforcing the North Carolina Weights and Measures Act (G.S. 81A), the Gasoline and Oil Inspection Law (G.S. 119), and the LP-Gas Inspection Law (G.S. 119 Article 5). Position involves standardized inspection and regulatory work in the State LP gas inspection program.
Duties involve the inspection and examination of a variety of equipment used in the storage, transportation, and distribution of liquified petroleum gases and liquid fertilizer to ensure compliance with the law and established safety regulations.
The person chosen for this position must reside within the assigned work territory which includes the following counties : Alexander, Alleghany, Ashe, Avery, Buncombe, Burke, Caldwell, Catawba, Cherokee, Clay, Cleveland, Gaston, Graham, Haywood, Henderson, Iredell, Jackson, Lincoln, Macon, Madison, McDowell, Mitchell, Polk, Rowan, Rutherford, Swain, Transylvania, Watauga, Wilkes, and Yancey.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
You may qualify by an equivalent combination of education and experience, either through years of education or years of directly related experience, or a combination of both.
Associate's degree in an engineering field or engineering technology from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of related experience; or completion of high school or a general educational development diploma and three years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Related experience includes the installation and maintenance of equipment used in the handling, storage, and distribution of liquids, gases, or other hazardous materials or code enforcement, such as building code.
