    Primary Purpose of Position : The Division of Parks and Recreation (DPR) is seeking a Maintenance Construction Supervisor II to serve as a working supervisor to overseei the maintenance and repair of Park facilities involving multiple trade specialties.

    Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

  • Supervising, planning, reviewing and evaluating the work of temporary and permanent employees, community service participants and volunteers on special projects.
  • Inspecting park facilities and buildings for maintenance and safety hazards.
  • Performing a variety of skilled tasks in a trade such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC and facility maintenance, and / or auto mechanics.
  • Operating large and small equipment and working with various small and large tools.
  • Developing and adjusting short-term assignments, schedules and project priorities.
  • Participating in the maintenance, repair and minor renovation work to buildings, equipment, and / or utility systems.
  • Maintaining stock control procedures for tools, parts, and supplies, and advising management concerning the technical aspects of maintaining, replacing or renovating equipment and facilities.
  • Drawing and reading blueprints / structural specifications plans for minor renovations and repairs, cost estimating of repairs and other projects.
  • Operating water and / or waste water treatment plants.
  • Participating in facility master planning, outside bid package development and implementation, reviewing and commenting on plan sheets from outside designers and contractors, monitoring and inspecting contractor construction and renovation projects.
  • Serving as liaison to local officials and / or regulatory agencies, ensuring standard operating procedures and / or policies are followed by the facility / agency.
  • Providing record keeping tasks such as recording work hours, performance, and operational forms.
  • Assisting in housekeeping, grounds and / or vehicle maintenance.
  • Position / Physical Requirements :

  • Position is considered "Essential / Mandatory Staff" and required to work on adverse weather days, during park emergencies, and may be called to work on special events.
  • Must be able to perform work inside and outside in various environmental conditions.
  • Must be ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and / or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and / or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Typical work schedule is Monday to Friday, 7am to 4pm, must be able to work evenings, holidays, and / or weekends when necessary. This schedule may vary.
  • Within 90 days of hire date, must have the ability to obtain and maintain :

  • A valid driver's license
  • A valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL)
  • Within 12 months of hire date, must have the ability to obtain and maintain :

  • Pesticide License
  • First Responder / Medical Responder Certificate
  • S130 / S190 Certificate
  • L180 Certificate
  • S212 Certificate
  • Within 24 months of hire date, must have the ability to obtain and maintain :

  • C-Well License (Drinking Water)
  • Sub-surface Wastewater License
  • Spray Irrigation Waste License
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

  • Demonstrated experience performing journey level trades in at least three of the following : carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and / or auto mechanics.
  • Demonstrated experience operating and repairing power equipment and small engines.
  • Demonstrated experience in performing preventative facility and equipment maintenance.
  • Demonstrated experience working from sketches or pencil drawings.
  • Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

    High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma

  • four years of progressive experience in facility maintenance or construction including experience in at least three building or mechanical trades including one year of supervisory experience in construction, maintenance and / or repair of buildings and facilities;
  • an equivalent combination of education and experience

    Necessary Special Qualification

    May require current certification by the EPA as a Type I, II, III or Universal technician as required by 40 CFR part 82, subpart F
