Job Duties

We are currently recruiting for a Maintenance / Construction Technician III. This position will function as a Plumber for Central Regional Hospital Butner Campus areas, ADATC, Whitaker School and Camp Barham. The primary purpose of this position is to perform maintenance, modification, repair and installation of plumbing, utility steam, hot water, gas heating, and cooling piping. Job duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Instillation, repair and maintenance of residential, commercial and industrial plumbing, piping and fixtures
  • All work must be accurate to provide adequate care and safety

This is a full-time position and eligible for the full State benefits package including health insurance and retirement. Â The normal working hours are Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. with a 30 minute meal break and rotating on-call and call back. This position is subject to emergency or inclement weather call back due to hospital emergencies 365 days a year.

CRH is a 398-bed state operated psychiatric hospital. Â It provides inpatient psychiatric care to patients of all ages with significant mental health illness. Â This care is provided over a broad range of service areas, including Adult Admissions, Geriatric Services, Community Transition Unit, Child and Adolescent Unit and Forensic Services. Â Â

  • Previous work experience demonstrating skills in at least two of the following areas: plumbing, steam pipe fitting, fabrication, heavy equipment operations and welding
  • Working knowledge of the methods, practices, tools, and materials used in the general maintenance and repair of buildings, equipment and machinery
  • Valid NC Driver's License required

Physical requirements will be discussed during the interview process but include physical strength sufficient to perform heavy physical tasks for extended periods of time.

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two (2) years of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas;Â

Necessary Special Qualification May require current certification by the Environmental Protection Agency as a Type I, II, III or

Universal technician as required by Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations Part 82, Subpart F.
