Summary or Brief Description of Work:
The NC Wildlife Resources Commission Mission Statement is to conserve North Carolina’s wildlife resources and their habitats and provide programs and opportunities that allow hunters, anglers, boaters and other outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy wildlife-associated recreation. The Commission is the regulatory agency responsible for the enforcement of N.C. fishing, hunting, trapping and boating laws. The NCWRC employs 700 full-time staff across the state, including wildlife and fisheries biologists and technicians, wildlife law enforcement officers, wildlife educators, communication specialists, customer service, information technology, and administrative professionals.
The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission is accepting applications for an Administrative Specialist II in our Law Enforcement Division.The Administrative Specialist II will provide a dual-purpose role in the Law Enforcement Division. The Purchasing component of this position is to ensure procurement of all materials, supplies, and equipment for the day-to-day operations of Wildlife Law Enforcement Officers as required by NC Justice Education and Training Standards Commission for Basic Law Enforcement Training and In-Service Training. The position will work closely with the Law Enforcement Division Budget Manager to assist in monitoring all division purchases to ensure purchasing guidelines are followed by division employees and to provide regular budgetary briefings to the Major of Administration and the Colonel.
The administrative component is to provide administrative assistance to the Law Enforcement Division under the supervision of the Administrative Officer I. To support the planning and delivery of the Wildlife Law Enforcement Officers Basic Training School and provide support to the 224 Wildlife Law Enforcement Officers.

- Thorough knowledge of services, policies and procedures related to a program or area of specialization. Thorough knowledge of program information systems in order to communicate and process information.
- Ability to demonstrate and apply this knowledge in performance of administrative tasks. Ability to explain and interpret information to clients/customers and staff.
- Ability to compile, assimilate and organize both printed and electronic information. Ability to apply knowledge of data collection, storage, organization, manipulation and/or analysis of data.
- Ability to utilize office equipment and other relevant technology (software and systems) to meet organizational needs.
- Ability to identify and understand issues, problems, and opportunities; use effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions.
- Ability to clearly convey information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals or groups.
- Ability to present ideas clearly and effectively in written form; ability to adjust language or terminology to meet the needs of the audience; ability to use correct grammar, organization, and structure.
Management Preferences:

- Experience in administrative management.
High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of related administrative experience;
or
equivalent combination of education and experience.
