Duties include but are not limited to the following: Â screening calls and visitors; answering inquiries and directing them to the proper source; screen and route all correspondence according to content; file and retrieve material; and independently draft letters and materials using word processing.
Must be familiar with operating standard office equipment; and serve as a resource to staff on changes or new policies about office rules and regulations.  Provide program information on all Dispute Resolution Commission mediation programs and explain procedures to the public and others. Performs special projects as assigned.
This position will report to the Executive Director.Knowledge of:Â office practices and procedures; grammar and punctuation; and word processing; commonly used rules, procedures, or methods, to perform limited, recurring assignments.
Skills in: Â Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint.
Ability to:Â screen communications and based on content, handle independently or route to proper destination; apply grammar and punctuation rules; type with accuracy and speed required by the hiring authority; spell accurately; use judgment in organizing and establishing document format; give basic information and instructions regarding programs or office based on inquiries; take and transcribe dictation; and operate office equipment such as switchboard, copier, calculator, fax machine, computer, and typewriter.
High school graduation or equivalency certificate and one (1) year of clerical experience.
Management prefers Wake County residents; and candidates with two (2) or more years of experience using Publisher and PowerPoint.
