The Office of Employee and Business Services (OEBS) manages the agency’s administrative services, including human resources, facility operations and organizational development. OEBS and its component bureaus support the primary goal of the ODJFS by providing continuous, accurate and timely administrative services to the program areas within the department. What You’ll Do
In this position, you will investigate civil rights complaints, equal employment opportunity complaints, consult, develop, and train county entities, and other related functions for the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS).
Job Duties
- Investigate discrimination complaints (review documents, gather information, conduct interviews)
- Draft correspondence (emails, letters, final reports)
- Respond to internal and external customer inquiries and discrimination complaints.
- Maintain accurate system documentation.
- Analyze evidence, policy, procedure, and other applicable guidelines to prepare final reports and findings.
- Work with internal and external customers to include but not limited to (e.g., federal government agencies (DOL, USDA, HHS, EEOC), other State agencies (OCRC), county agencies)
- Utilize various electronic systems (e.g., MS Office Suite, databases, Civil Rights Connector/Salesforce, OAK’s)

Schedule:
Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:30am - 5:00pm. Workdays may be remote or in-office. Number of remote days may vary.
Travel:
You will travel outside of your headquarters office as needed. You may provide on-sites, trainings, and compliance reviews at county entities.

The ideal candidate, at minimum, must have the following:
OPTION 1:
- Undergraduate core coursework in personnel management, business or public administration to include coursework in personnel management principles;
AND
- 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in interviewing;
AND
- 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in EEO & affirmative action regulations & procedures;
AND
- 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp in employee training & development
Option 2:
- 12 mos. exp. as EEO Officer
Option 3:
- 30 mos. trg. or 30 mos. exp. in conducting EEO & affirmative investigative & compliance activities
OR
- Equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.

Pay Information
This position is in the State of Ohio’s E1 Pay Schedule, Pay Range 12. Unless required by legislation or union contract, starting salary will be the minimum salary of that pay range (step 1, currently $30.96 per hour). These ranges provide a standardized pathway for pay increases. With continued employment, new hires move to the next step in the range after 6 months and annually thereafter. Cost of Living Adjustments increase wages in these ranges each fiscal year. The current step progression wages are in the table below.

Telework Policy
ODJFS may require occasional in-person meetings for training or other operational needs. You will have access to ODJFS shared workspaces, if needed. Employees are required to sign a teleworking agreement upon their first day. Schedules are subject to change based on the agency’s operational needs and telework status. Telework is considered a privilege and agreements are reviewed annually.
