What you will do:

Payroll Processing - Serves as primary backup for payroll processing for over 1,500 Supreme Court staff, judges, retired assigned judges and court personnel throughout the State encompassing three distinct pay cycles. Assists with providing support to staff and affiliated agencies and local/state courts for payroll and HR inquires.
Employee Transactions - Assists with new hires, retirements, resignations, terminations, and benefit administration for all Justice Chambers, Affiliated Offices, judges, clerk of courts and court of appeals staff, including processing of prior service and leave separation procedures.
Report Preparation - Prepares queries or reports using spreadsheets, databases, or other tools to track payroll and HR information. Assists with independent contractor reporting and all required paperwork for OPERS. Processes reports to supply to local/state courts for tracking of leave balances. Ensures accuracy and reports any inconsistencies immediately for adjustments.
Compensation Review - Serves as primary reviewer for annual compensation projects.
New Judge Orientation: Assists with annual new judge orientation to include tracking of new hire paperwork and other documents.
Documentation - Initiate, distribute, track, and audit PAFs and EDCFs. Maintain and update all payroll and related tracking sheets. Assists with documentation for the annual payroll audit. Maintain updated job aids for payroll related forms on the Courts Intranet. Maintain an active roster for the Clerk of Courts and Courts of Appeals contact information.
Leaves and ADA Contact - Serves as the primary point of contact for employees regarding leaves of absence and accommodations requests. Provides instruction and guidance on processes, policies, paperwork, time management, and more. Manages the review, approval, and correspondence process in collaboration with HR Office leadership.
Leave Tracking - Assists in setting up leave cases in UKG, tracking and updating OAKS as necessary. Responsible for running leave balance reports for Court of Appeals for distribution every other week and reporting any discrepancies to supervisor. Provides assistance as necessary during annual leave conversion.
Workers Compensation - Serve as the liaison for employees with the Supreme Court’s workers compensation vendor. Monitors workers compensation cases with the vendor and serves as the main point of contact regarding issues, updates, etc.
File Management: Perform HR file management activities related to physical files and digital files in OnBase in collaboration with the Employment Specialist.
Administrative Tasks - Performs various administrative duties, including drafting correspondence and reports, answering and triaging HR Department phone calls, manage department mail, and respond to inquiries including employment verifications.
Department Support - Crosstrain with the Employment Specialist and the Benefits and Employee Development Specialist; provide backup as needed.

Qualifications

What we’re looking for:

Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in HR or related field.

A minimum of three years of professional experience, with a focus in the human resources field. Experience in payroll is required. Experience in leave management is preferred.

HR Knowledge - Familiar with business, human resources, public administration, employment laws, rules, policies, and customer service techniques.
HR Systems - Experience with HRIS and timekeeping systems, including system integration to support the organization. PeopleSoft and Kronos experience is a plus.
Payroll Knowledge - Knowledge of state and federal laws, rules, procedures, and standards governing payroll practices preferred.
Microsoft Office – Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and related applications.
Customer Service – Works with customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations.
Interpersonal Skills - Treats others with courtesy, sensitivity, and respect. Considers and responds appropriately to the needs and feelings of different people in different situations.
Communication - Demonstrates exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey information clearly and effectively.
Independence and Teamwork - Ability to work independently or part of a team.

This position reports to the Payroll and Human Resources Administrator. The salary range for this position, which is commensurate with experience, is $65,000.00 - $73,299.20.
