What are the responsibilities and job description for the Archivist IV (Electronic Records Archivist) position at State of South Carolina?
Under general supervision, creates and implements procedures and practices for establishing and managing the intellectual control of electronic records of state agencies and local government subdivisions that have been permanently transferred to the state archives or are scheduled to be transferred.
Master’s degree in library and information science or public history with coursework in archival administration and principles.
- Plans, develops and implements procedures for preserving and providing access to electronic records, including archived websites, audio-visual materials, emails, and social media collections through the SC Electronic Records Archives using a range of preservation tools and software.
- Provides direction to other archivists in the processing of electronic records for archival retention.
- Provides assistance to the Record Management Unit with the identification, evaluation and scheduling of potential archival records involving electronic formats.
- Works with other staff to develop and implement training for state agencies and local government subdivisions in the preservation of electronic records.
- Advises and provides reference assistance regarding historical or genealogical research.
- General knowledge of South Carolina history and government organization.
- General knowledge of electronic records, digital preservation and other related issues.
- Ability to communicate in a clear and efficient manner, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with the public, staff, and other professionals.
- Ability to lift 40 lbs. to shoulder height required.
Master’s degree in library and information science or public history with coursework in archival administration and principles.
- Prior experience working with eRecords processing, web archiving and/or email archiving.
- Familiarity with Preservica or other digital preservation software.
- Familiarity with Dublin Core and EAD metadata standards.
- Experience with command line tools or automated scripts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Access or equivalent software.
Salary : $38,985 - $72,134
