Job Responsibilities
THIS IS AN INTERNAL POSTING.
ONLY CURRENT BUREAU OF PROTECTIVE SERVICES (BPS) OFFICERS WILL BE CONSIDERED.
Supervises the shift supervisors at the Governor's Mansion Division and other state facilities under the jurisdiction of the Bureau of Protective Services as defined by S. C. Code of Law, Section 23-6-90.
Supervises the daily operations and the administrative duties at the Governor's Mansion occurring within jurisdiction of the Bureau of Protective Services.
Coordinates security for special functions at the Governor's Mansion and other areas, coordinates special assignments to include submitting written operations plans and after action reports.
Supervises the Governor's Mansion operations to ensure compliance and accuracy of all reports, to include leave and time attendance in the SCEIS System, and to ensure compliance with Department of Public Safety and Bureau of Protective Services policy directives.
Performs other duties as directed by the Chief/Major/Captain of the Bureau of Protective Services relative to the security responsibilities of the agency.
Serves as a representative of the Bureau of Protective Services at official meetings, work groups, public functions, and special task forces as deemed necessary by the command staff.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
State Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and experience performing patrol or investigative duties with a public law enforcement agency.
Agency Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent and/or five (5) years of law enforcement experience, basic law enforcement certification, and permanent status as a Bureau of Protective Services Corporal.
Additional Requirements
Excellent command of BPS/DPS policies and procedures and knowledgeable of South Carolina Code of Laws; must also be knowledgeable of the Governor's Mansion Division and other state facilities under the jurisdiction of the Bureau of Protective Services.
Employee must work with minimum supervision and must have the ability to exercise good judgement and discretion when necessary.
Must posses effective written and verbal communication skills; must be physically able to lift, bend and stand for prolonged periods of time; must be able to restrain individuals who may pose a threat to the Governor and other public officials, state employees, and the general public. This individual must also be able to perform these duties under all weather conditions.
