What are the responsibilities and job description for the Career Services Specialist position at State of South Carolina?
Job Responsibilities
The Career Services Specialist will collaborate with faculty, industry partners, and community organizations to create a robust career services program that empowers students to achieve their professional goals. This position reports to the AVP of Academic Affairs.
Provide one-on-one career counseling sessions to students. Assist students in identifying their career goals and interests. Offer advice on resume writing, job search strategies, and interview preparation.
Develop and deliver workshops on topics such as resume writing, job interviewing skills, and networking. Coordinate training programs that align with industry needs.
Build and maintain relationships with local employers to create job placement opportunities for students. Facilitate job fairs, employer information sessions, and on-campus recruitment events.
Create and maintain a comprehensive library of career resources, including job listings, industry trends, and employer directories. Develop online resources and tools for student use, including a career services website and social media presence.
Collaborate with academic departments to integrate career readiness into the curriculum. Provide training and support to faculty on how to incorporate career services into their programs.
Maintain accurate records of student interactions, job placements, and workshop participation. Prepare and present quarterly reports to administration on the effectiveness of career services initiatives.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
A bachelor's degree and experience in student services programs.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Career Services, Counseling, Human Resources or a related field. Experience in career services, advising, or workforce development, preferabl in a higher education setting preferred
Additional Comments
Should work effectively with students, may require late evening hours during peak periods and during the semester to meet the needs of the position. May be expected to travel within the state and regional area, and overnight travel may be necessary.
