Reporting to the HVAC Supervisor, the Controls Technician installs, maintains, calibrates, and tests controls, systems and related equipment for the university's energy management, fire and computer maintenance systems.Troubleshoots, repairs and replaces defective components.Sets schedules of operation for systems during campus operation and closings.Calibrates devices to ensure maximum energy efficiency of all heating and cooling systems.Assists HVAC-Refrigeration department with troubleshooting and repairs.Performs testing and repairs on campus fire alarm system.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
High school diploma.Four years of related experience at the journeyman level in HVAC and refrigeration.Certification in chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) recovery.Valid driver’s license.Expert knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration maintenance procedures and techniques and related equipment, including heat exchangers, compressors, chillers, etc.General knowledge of fire alarm systems.Ability to read and work from blueprints and manuals.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the general public.Ability to lead and direct the work of others.Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
