Job Responsibilities
With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.

These positions are located with the Department of Mental Health, Beckman Center for Mental Health Services. One position will be based at the Greenwood Clinic, 1547 Parkway, Greenwood, SC, and will provide services to patients in the Greenwood and Abbeville catchment area. The second position will be based at the Laurens Clinic, 442 Professional Park Road, Clinton, SC, and will serve the patients in the Laurens and Newberry catchment area. These positions are temporary grant positions, expiring October 2025.
Responsibilities, include, but are not limited to :
1.Engages patients and establishes trusting, collaborative relationships directed toward the goal of competitive employment in integrated, community job settings. Conducts job development, work-based learning, self-advocacy, educational counseling & guidance, college research and admissions, work readiness training, job / college preparedness and PRS services to Transition-age youth with SMI.
2.Conducts services to youth based on the IPS Fidelity Model and VR's Transition Program. Provides individualized, time unlimited follow along services that will enhance the likelihood of long-term career success. Provide career opportunities for youth with SMI ranging from age 16-25 as it relates to teaching them the skills needed to successfully maintain competitive employment and / or reach higher education goals.
3.Manage a caseload of up to 20 patients per (ES). Refers youth to VRs transition program as appropriate with a goal of no less than 200 per the 7-county catchment area. Maintains medical record documentation standards in accordance with all BMHC QA, DMH, and CARF policies and procedures. Completes Collaborative Documentation with the patient and / or caregiver and commits to EMR immediately after the delivery of service whenever possible.
4. Provide timely interventions and outreach to patients. Ensure that people with lived experience with SMI are given opportunities to provide guidance, feedback, and insight by engaging patients in peer related services. Create a Youth Patient Advisory Board (YPAB) and establish activities that allow people with SMI to voice their opinions as it relates to improvements in service delivery of the program.
5.Engage in community outreach through interagency collaboration with agencies / organizations that provide services to people with SMI and / or disabilities. Provide consultative services to Employers which may include negotiating job accommodations. Develop or expand relationships with at least seven high schools, technical schools, and / or colleges in all 7 counties.
6. Participates as an active member of the clinical treatment team, engage in supervisory and administrative meetings.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
State : A bachelor's degree in guidance, counseling, or the social sciences and professional experience in human services or social services programs.
Additional / Agency Requirements : One year experience in counseling and / or behavior modification.

Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
