Job Responsibilities
Reporting to the Assistant Athletic Director for External Operations, the Development Coordinator solicits annual fund gifts through outreach to donors, prospects and alumni and oversees Eagle Club gameday operations, events and donor communications.
Annual Giving
Travel/Overtime Requirements: Occasional evening and weekend hours.
Telecommuting: Employees are not eligible for telecommuting/remote work during their 12-month probationary period. After that time, certain positions may be eligible for telecommuting/remote work at the discretion of the supervisor and in accordance with Winthrop policies.

Annual Giving
- Identifies and qualifies prospects for philanthropic support.
- Manages a portfolio of prospective donors through personal visits, correspondence, and electronic and telephonic communication.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of donor interactions, solicitations and communications in the university’s database.
- Collaborates with campus partners on Annual Giving Day and other events as appropriate and assists with community engagement opportunities to promote Winthrop Athletics.
- Assists with the planning, preparation and execution of annual fundraising events.
- Develops and execute a comprehensive, data-driven annual strategy to grow the Eagle Club in coordination with University Advancement staff.
- Provides guidance and oversight of the Eagle Club Advisory Board.
- Plans, coordinates and executes gameday hospitality, benefit-related events, recognition programs and other special athletic events.
- Ensures donors receive regular and meaningful updates on Eagle Club and athletic initiatives.
- Provides regular reports on athletic fundraising activities, progress toward fundraising goals and prospect pipelines to supervisor.
- Bachelors degree.
- At least one year of experience in sales, customer relations, or fundraising or similar revenue generation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Working knowledge of Photoshop and InDesign or similar software.
- Ability to manage a complex database.
- Exceptional organizational skills, with keen attention to detail.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work with highly sensitive/confidential information.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the general public.
