Job Duties:
Must be able to meet the professional qualifications required by the National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA). Job Duties:
- The Fire Inspector conducts standard code compliance inspections of childcare facilities for conformity to all laws, regulations, adopted codes, and referenced codes for fire prevention and health and sanitation inspections as required by the regulations for childcare facilities. Serves the following counties: Greenville, Spartanburg, Laurens, Cherokee, McCormick, Edgefield, Saluda, Newberry, Union.
- Schedules and conducts standard fire, health and sanitation inspections of childcare facilities for compliance with applicable laws, regulations, adopted codes, and referenced codes. Performs hazard and risk assessment techniques.
- Prepares comprehensive and clearly written reports of each inspection, listing violations of applicable laws, regulations, adopted codes, and referenced codes, and setting time periods for corrective actions; keeps current, accurate, and complete records of inspection statistics; maintains inspection reports follow-up reports, and requests for inspections.
- Conducts inspections to follow-up original inspections to ensure that timely and accurate corrective actions have been taken for all cited violations.
- Reviews constructive plans and meets with architects, engineers, contractors, building officials, and fire officials to advise on agency interpretation and application of laws, regulations, and adopted or referenced codes; performs strategic planning activities.
- Perform Red Cross shelter duty or other emergency shelter duty/services as directed.
