This position is located at the Department of Mental Health Crafts-Farrow, 7901 Farrow Rd, Columbia, SC 29203.
As the General Maintenance Technician III, working under general supervision, you will perform trades related duties of considerable difficulty requiring a high degree of skill and technical knowledge in specialized trades area. Maintain and repair SCDMH buildings, equipment, and other assets to provide a safe and comfortable environment for clients and staff.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Performs maintenance, repair and troubleshooting on plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and hospital equipment as required by after-hours maintenance requests.
- Monitors boilers and pumps in assigned buildings (pressure on boilers and pumps). Ensures buildings, vehicles, and property is secured and locked.
- Receives calls and documents after-hour maintenance requests and enters into work order system.
- Responds to emergency situations as needed and/or assigned for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns. Takes phone calls and responds to maintenance requests as needed.
- Cleans, maintains, and improves assigned work area and services vehicles. Maintains tools and equipment and keeps a stock of supplies on assigned work vehicle.
- Performs all duties with exceptional customer service, remains self-motivated and completes job duties with minimal supervision.
- Performs roof inspections on the Crafts Farrow campus.
- Conducts weekly building inspections with the Long-Term Care division. Enters work orders as needed from weekly inspections.
- Performs administrative duties; S80 forms, ticket submissions, and maintenance/clean up copies of campus drawings.
Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
