Job Description
Are you skilled at investigative audits of unemployment insurance claims? Our Benefit Accuracy Measurement (BAM) Specialist will assist with the coordination and directing of investigative audits performed on unemployment insurance claims.
Within the Unemployment Insurance division, the BAM program is a federally mandated diagnostic tool used to assess the accuracy of UI payments, identifying errors and their root causes, and providing corrective action in accordance with applicable UI policies and procedures to preserve the integrity of the UI Program. This role will review, evaluate, and recommend appropriate action necessary for the timely and accurate completion of BAM audits. An ideal candidate will be adaptable, analytical, and decisive.
Key Responsibilities
The BAM Specialist will:
- Analyze data obtained through investigations to identify trends associated with programmatic errors and recommend continuous process improvements.
- Conduct in-depth random BAM Paid Audits on claimants receiving UI benefits to determine if claimant was properly paid benefits.
- Conduct in-depth random BAM Denial Audits on claimants to determine if claimant was properly denied benefits.
- Audit all facets of the selected claim to identify potential issues, including fraud.
- Interpret and apply state and federal law to ensure compliance for UI Program on policies and procedures by agency staff.
- Pursue identified issues to support conclusions with appropriate adjudications.
- Correctly code and enter case data into the National Office databank.
- Prepare and submit summary of case audit to BAM Reviewer.
- Completes audits within established time constraints.
- Conducts separation and non-separation fact finding interviews for unemployment insurance claims as needed, in accordance with UI Operations policies and guidelines, while adhering to Benefit Timeliness and Quality (BTQ) standards.
- Issues determinations in accordance with Benefit Timeliness Quality (BTQ) standards, SC Code of Laws, SC Regulations, and UI Division policy and guidelines.
A High School Diploma or equivalent. Applicant must have at least four (4) years of experience in the Unemployment Insurance (UI) Division. Must be familiar with the agency’s UI Program policies, procedures, regulations, and laws to enable audit of subject areas. In-depth working knowledge and experience in the UI Program.
Salary : $46,655 - $86,321
