What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT Service Specialist position at State of South Carolina?
With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.
This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, Coastal Empire Community Mental Health Center, 1050 Ribaut Rd., Beaufort, SC 29902.
1. Performs the functions of Coastal’s IT Help Desk and maintains the necessary documentation of all work orders. Monitors & supports five sites and approximately 90 users. Is our Lead Laptop Technician and School-Based Staff Liaison, responsible for imaging, staff training & follow-up, VPN tokens.
2. Enter and follow up on all orders for VoIP system. Update maintain phone list as required. Assist with setup of phones (cell and office) and troubleshoot as necessary.
3. Accomplish hardware/software installation with DMH images as required to include upgrades and security software. Provide on-going support for personnel and Center equipment. Provide supervisor with recommendation on yearly technology plan in February for the next fiscal year.
4. Act as Center EMR Liaison – updates staff information in the system, monitor & key changes, capture electronic signatures. Provide technical support to users and act as liaison with programmers. Takes the lead role in all Telepsychiatry, Zoom, Teams, and Doxy.me issues for the center.
5. Responsible for the Center’s SharePoint site, including uploading and maintaining all policies and procedures, obtain system access for all new hires and monitor key changes with staff, ensure proper licensure for staff, and update of training manual for IT.
6. Attend regional and state meetings for IT staff as required, sharing useful information with the IT team. Maintains good relations with agency management and officials, vendors and users. Serve as liaison with DMH programmers. Review with administrator & executive staff the current network architecture and recommend upgrades/enhancements to network infrastructure as a component of the yearly technology plan.
7. Other related duties as assigned.
This position requires – Knowledge of network services and data communications. Knowledge of office automation systems, information processing operations, fiber optics, micro/minicomputer hardware/software as they relate to the latest trends in voice and data networks connectivity. Agency Requirements: HS Diploma & 4 years of experience in office automation systems; data communication systems design; processing of information in a data processing environment; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Ability to communicate well, both orally and in writing and to establish good working relationships with users, vendors and ONiT in Columbia. Ability to work in Excel and SharePoint proficiently. |
