What are the responsibilities and job description for the Licensed Practical Nurse, Non-Institutional/Child & Adolescent position at State of South Carolina?

This position is located in Medical Services of Child & Adolescent Clinic of the Anderson-Oconee-Pickens Mental Health Center, 1 Linwa Boulevard, Anderson, SC 29621.
Will assist Medical Staff in a variety of complex or high skilled paraprofessional nursing tasks to include assistance with Prior Authorization Medication and refilling medications.
1. Perform duties which include administration and monitoring of medication of patients, calling in prescriptions for patients, recording and monitoring medication usage. Will complete in a timely and organized manner, keeping accurate records through the process.
2. Provide nursing duties to tele-psychiatry physicians. Ensure connection with tele-psychiatry physician is made. Take vitals (blood pressure and height/weight) of each patient seen, brief the physician of any needs of the patient, provide him with the vitals. Follow up with each patient after the Psychiatric Medical Assessment which may include prescriptions, sample medications and follow-up appointments.
3. Assists with Prior Authorization Medication Forms. Uses the electronic medical record to research medications to verify and fill out forms that assist a patient in receiving a medication as required by various payor sources.
4. Documentation of services in clinical record according to Q.A. Standards and agency policy and procedure.
5. Perform other duties as assigned.
State Requirement: Successful completion of an approved nursing education program for professional nursing or an equivalent course of study from an approved nursing education program per Section 40-33-32 of the South Carolina Nurse Licensure Act.
Agency Requirements: Graduation from an accredited school of practical nursing and related experience. Licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse by the SC Board of Nursing.Preferred Requirements: Same as Agency Requirements and experience with the following: psychiatric patients, third-party payers and prior authorization of medication and treatment.
