What are the responsibilities and job description for the Natural Resource Technician II position at State of South Carolina?
This employee will be responsible for performing various responsibilities including wildlife development and maintenance activities on the islands of the Tom Yawkey Wildlife Center.
Job Duties Include:
- Assisting with daily upland habitat management activities.
- Assisting with wetland habitat management activities.
- Assisting with the maintenance of grounds and common areas.
- Assisting with the upkeep and maintenance of buildings, sheds, houses and other facilities on the Tom Yawkey Wildlife Center.
- Assisting with invasive and exotic species removal, wildlife surveys, and wildlife monitoring programs.
- Assisting with bridge operation and pontoon boat operation.
- Maintaining equipment.
A high school diploma and two (2) years of related experience in wildlife, fisheries or agricultural work; or an associate degree in the technical sciences.Ability to operate farm equipment including tractors and implements along with heavy equipment. Ability to operate woodworking, chainsaws and other small hand tools. Welding, boat and motor operation, agricultural and carpentry experience valuable. Ability to assist with control burns. Ability to collect data accurately and efficiently. Trapping and outdoor skills beneficial. Ability to lift heavy objects and work in a hot and buggy environment. Ability to work in remote locations. Ability to maintain a positive attitude and work with a diverse work force.
Salary : $27,510 - $50,905
