With our Agency's mission to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses, we provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.
This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, Central Office, 2414 Bull Street, Columbia, SC 29201.
As the Network Administrator, working under general supervision, supports the agency data communication networks, equipment, and applications by managing all aspects of installation and maintenance of MPLS circuits, Ruckus, Cisco and Aruba routers, switches, and wireless. Supports systems used by ED and Community Telepsychiatry staff in the delivery of remote psychiatric consultation services.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Participates in LAN/WAN network configuration, equipment installations, and maintenance, to include routers, switches, VoIP, and wireless.
- Monitors and maintains network devices via Solarwinds, identify and correct network communication problems.
- Supports video conferencing systems for SCDMH ED and Community Telepsychiatry Programs.
- Provides reports on network usage and equipment and makes recommendations to management.
- Communicates information from Network Services to various levels of staff in SCDMH.
State Minimum Requirements: A bachelor's degree in information technology systems, computer science, or a related field and experience in information technology systems or a related area. Relevant experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
Agency (Facility) Minimum Requirements: A four (4) year degree in computer science or equivalent experience in data and video communications system and design or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Note: If any Agency Requirements are listed above, applicants must also meet those requirements to be considered for the position.
Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus. The selected candidate must have knowledge data and video communications, MPLS networks, VLAN tagging, VoIP, Ruckus/Cisco/Aruba routers, switches and wireless. Understanding and knowledge of Solarwinds software. Firm understanding of TCP/IP protocols. Must be able to understand and determine needs of users and communicate those needs effectively. Must be able to work some nights/weekends; have the ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds and travel as needed.
