Our Staff Accountant serves within the DEW Finance Department. Finance is responsible for the agency’s annual financial reporting which consists of the audited financial statements for the UI trust fund and the agency wide audited financial statements. Agency bookkeeping and grant reporting to the US Department of Labor (DOL) and other grantors is performed by the finance department.
- Prepare financial analysis on records and reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing accounting data and transactions.
- Prepare financial support records including reconciling details of accounts.
- Create and prepare financial reports and statements as needed under the direction and at the discretion of the Controller for internal and external purposes.
- Accurately record journal entries.
- Assist in the preparation of financial management reports and annual audits.

Education and ExperienceA high school diploma and professional experience in a related area such as accounting, auditing, finance, or banking.
Additional Requirements
Ability to work with and analyze large quantities of data with attention to detail. Ability to follow procedures for retrieving and summarizing data for processing. Experience reviewing data records to record accounting transactions. Experience with Excel and working with large data files. Focused on task accuracy and completion of tasks by assigned deadline.Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field with at least 1 year of professional experience directly related to the position, such as accounting, auditing, banking, or finance.
