What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student Services Program Coordinator II position at State of South Carolina?
1. Counsel and advise Veteran educational benefit recipients on all matters pertaining to the college's admission requirements and eligibility for Veteran educational benefit programs. Interprets and explains federal and state regulatory guidance related to VA standards, departmental, and college procedures.
2. Advises both continuing and potential students as well as parents regarding Financial Aid programs (federal, state and institutional) and the eligibility criteria for each. Disseminates accurate and timely information to include application procedures, eligibility requirements and standards of Satisfactory Academic Progress. Assist with training new staff, VA work-study students and temporary employees. Assist in the development, updating and implementation of policies and procedures to improve services to students. Remains up to date with VA regulations and guidelines to ensure program compliance.
3. Reviews, analyzes, and verifies information and documentation to determine the student's possible eligibility for one of the various VA Programs. Ensures that information is accurately reported on accounts of students receiving Free Tuition from the State of South Carolina. Maintains and processes veteran education benefit recipient's enrollment files for proper awarding and certification and corrections to certifying officials. Process verification, SAP appeals, professional judgments, and special circumstances.
4. Reviews academic, financial and enrollment data collected to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations. Maintains weekly contact with SFS Tech unit to ensure accurate changes are reported for VA education benefit recipients as it relates to state aid. Compute information to adjust awards when applicable. Complete institutional deferment forms for Post 9/11 recipients and prepare for certifying official to submit to VA.
5. Perform review of student's courses and program of study against degree requirements and coordinate with students, faculty, and staff regarding requirements related to VA certification and eligibility. Notify students that have been placed on academic probation of available resources to enhance their opportunities for academic success.
6. Serve as a liaison to the bookstore and VR&E case managers for the purchase of books, supplies and equipment. Request overrides for books based on award types as needed.
7. Performs other duties as assigned.
