What are the responsibilities and job description for the Workforce Spec II - Senior Youth Spec - JC position at State of South Carolina?
Under the direct supervision of the First Sergeant of the SC Job ChalleNGe Program. Supervise cadre and cadets in a positive quasi-military environment for cadets to ensure their emotional, physical, psychological and other needs are met according to guidelines for operating Job Challenge residential program. Ensure cadre and cadets are following program policies, rules, and regulations. Provides supportive mentoring, counseling, and tutoring for cadets to improve traits that will lead to successful employment. Provide instruction and direction to cadre and cadets. Observe cadre and cadets for unusual behavior and report to necessary staff in a timely manner. Develops and maintains positive life-coping and employability skills among youth through teaching and enforcing appropriate behaviors. Maintain an effective system for cadet disciplinary referrals, ensuring documents are written properly and professionally. Transport cadets to college campuses, activities, and events daily. Must be physically fit in order to participate in and instruct physical fitness training for cadets. Must be able to set a positive example for cadets and establish and maintain effective working relationships with cadets and staff. Creates, plans, and schedules classes and activities for cadets to enhance cadet job skills and program morale. Perform other duties as assigned. Positions available are located in Eastover, SC.A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or a high school diploma with at least 4 years of experience working in a law enforcement, military environment, or at-risk youth residential facility, at least 2 years of supervisory experience, and 2 years of working with at-risk youth.A Bachelor’s Degree in related field, at least 4 or more years of experience working in a law enforcement, correctional, security, military or at-risk youth residential facility, and 2 years of supervisory experience.Knowledge of state and federal laws, rules and regulations relative to the area of responsibility. Knowledge of principles of human growth and behavior. Knowledge of interpersonal dynamics and personality principles. Ability to observe and interpret behavior. Knowledge of employment practices, technical abilities, and physical demands of common occupations. Ability to analyze data and organize information. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals, families and representatives of other professional disciplines. Ability to communicate effectively, written and orally. Ability to work in a stressful environment and keep composure.
