Who we are and what we do :
The Tennessee Department of Correction operates and oversees 14 adult prisons across the state, housing some 21,000 offenders. In the community, TDOC supervises 79,000 offenders on probation, parole, or community corrections. The department operates 44 probation / parole offices in 13 districts across the state. The Tennessee Department of Correction operates safe and secure prisons and provides effective community supervision in order to enhance public safety.
Job Overview :
- The Correctional Facility Safety Program Director provides oversight, and guidance on Agency environmental issues, to ensure all operational parameters and regulatory requirements are met and understood by the institutions. Provide safety related oversight of all facility and leased spaces, State Fire Marshal's Office and certification / annual inspections.
- Key Responsibilities :
- Management of DOC Facility and Safety, Fire Safety, Environmental, Loss / Risk Management statewide initiatives.
- Coordinate and conduct safety training programs for the DOC and inmate population.
- Responsibility for training, auditing, planning, and overseeing FSO activities for all correctional facilities.
- Serving as the liaison between DOC and State Fire Marshal, TOSHA, TDEC, Department of Treasury / Risk Management, and Workers Compensation Third Party Administrator (as necessary).
- Directing the property and asset accountability and related losses for the Agency through working with Sedgwick and all related FEMA-declared disasters.
- Compliance oversight for risk management efforts such as boilers, elevators, Water Intrusion Plans, etc., through the insurance agency and the Department of Labor and Treasury / Risk.
- Working with the procurement team on Health / Safety Grants.
- Ensuring compliance with the community supervision offices to ensure a safe and healthful working environment.
