The Utah National Guard is actively seeking skilled individuals to take on the vital role of maintaining, installing, inspecting, and repairing building automation systems. This position represents a journey-level opportunity as an Electronic Technical Specialist, carrying the responsibility of contributing to the Military's mission in support of energy conservation initiatives. Operating in the field, you will engage in intricate electronics tasks that encompass the design, repair, replacement, maintenance, and assembly of specialized electronic equipment. This diverse range of equipment includes but is not limited to, fiber optics, closed circuit television systems, electronic security systems, telecommunications systems, interior communications systems, and other electronic systems or apparatus. Additionally, you will occasionally work indoors, focusing on equipment repair and programming, all while meeting the requirement of obtaining and maintaining a Top Secret Security Clearance. 

Principal Responsibilities:
In the capacity of a BAS Controls Technical Specialist II, you will:
  • Conduct thorough inspections of facilities, machinery, equipment, and systems to ensure compliance with safety, maintenance, performance, and quality standards.
  • Execute installations of components, hardware, and related elements; troubleshoot and fine-tune systems for optimal initial performance.
  • Skillfully diagnose issues, troubleshoot, make adjustments, perform repairs, and execute preventative maintenance on computers, equipment, and related systems.
  • Maintain precise and organized records and logs of all activities.
  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned by the supervisor, aligning with the field's scope of the title position.
The Ideal Candidate
The most qualified candidate will possess:
  • A minimum of two years of either pertinent work experience, electronics education, or a combination thereof.
  • Proficiency in key areas, including VAV systems, INET Control, and Bacnet/Lon BAS protocols.
Preference
Preference may be given to those who possess at least one of the following:
  • An associate's degree or higher in an Electrical or Electronics field of study.
  • Expertise in working with Commercial HVAC Systems, Struxureware, and Niagara 4.

  • Mastery of electronics principles, theories, and practices.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting maps, plats, charts, plans, blueprints, and electrical schematics.
  • Familiarity with traffic control and safety protocols.
  • Understanding of applicable laws, rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Capability to maintain, repair, and utilize tools and equipment.
  • Competence in installing, repairing, and maintaining building automation systems and equipment.
  • Effective communication skills, both in written and verbal forms, enabling clear conveyance of information and ideas.

  • Occasional night and weekend work may be necessary.
  • On-call duty is a component of this position.
  • The role demands 24-hour availability, overtime, and flexible work schedules due to diverse factors, including inclement weather, assignments, and emergencies.
  • Some travel may be required.
  • The position entails a blend of office and field work, encompassing various weather conditions. It may involve working at varying heights of up to 85 feet using equipment like bucket trucks or ladders.
  • Working Conditions - risks that require the use of special safety precautions and/or equipment, e.g., working around operating machines, hazardous chemicals, etc.
  • Physical Requirements - work requires moderate to strenuous physical exertion. May require the ability to stand; walk over rough surfaces; bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, and lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time.
