Curriculum Developer
The Training Division within the Utah Department of Corrections is seeking a qualified and motivated applicant for an exciting role as a Correctional Administrator (Non-POST) position, specifically assigned as a Curriculum Developer.
The Curriculum Developer will be responsible for designing, developing and implementing innovative and effective learning programs. This role will require a deep understanding of instructional design principles, adult learning theory and subject matter expertise. The ideal candidate should be a creative and strategic thinker with strong project management and communication skills.
Principal Duties
- Curriculum Development-
- Serve as a resource for staff in curriculum development.
- Review and approve curriculum to ensure quality and compliance.
- Conduct thorough needs assessments to identify learning gaps and objectives.
- Design and implement effective assessment strategies to measure progress and program effectiveness
- Identify areas for improvement and implement changes to enhance learning outcomes
- Acadis-
- Create and update user-friendly learning materials, including e-learning modules and online courses.
- Monitor staff training progress to help ensure alignment with career competencies and organizational goals.
- Ensure training materials are accurate, up-to-date, and comply with policies and state laws.
- Specialty Assignment Liaison-
- Conduct learning needs assessments in collaboration with other divisions.
- Work with each division to develop training and in-service programs tailored to their needs.
- Training Models-
- Use ADDIE Model for instructional design https://elearninginfographics.com/the-addie-model-infographic/
- Apply Adult Learning Theory to ensure effective instructional strategies.
- Collaboration-
- Work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and administration to align training with organizational goals.
- Gather feedback from instructors and students to ensure training meets staff needs and enhances learning effectiveness.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Ideal Candidate Has:
Master's degree in Instructional Design, Curriculum Development, Education, or a related field. A Bachelor’s Degree and related experience may also be considered.
Proven experience in curriculum development and instructional design.
Strong understanding of adult learning theories and instructional design principles. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong project management and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience in utilizing educational software for designing online training courses and curricula, as well as experience in AI, video technology and advanced experience with Google Suite, and Microsoft Office.
Experience in developing online and blended learning programs.
Knowledge of accessibility standards and universal design for learning.
Experience with data analysis and evaluation methods.
