What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilities and Technology Support Coordinator position at State of Utah?
The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented person to provide support for our meeting rooms as well as technical support in other areas throughout the department. The ideal candidate possesses a strong foundation in audio-visual (AV) technology and troubleshooting, coupled with a comprehensive understanding of computers and electronics. This role requires a proactive individual who can effectively liaise with the Division of Technology Services (DTS) and building management to resolve technical and facility-related issues.
Due to the nature of the job duties, this position is not eligible for remote work and will require some in-state travel for meetings.
Principal Duties
As the Facilities and Technology Support Coordinator, you will:
- Provide on-site technical support for AV equipment, computer systems, and other technologies used in meeting rooms.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues related to audiovisual systems, hardware, software, network connectivity.
- Coordinate with the Division of Technology Services to escalate and resolve more complex technical issues.
- Manage system enhancements including researching and implementing new AV technologies, upgrading existing equipment, and improving meeting room infrastructure.
- Oversee contractors and vendors performing AV installations, maintenance, and repairs. This includes creating proposals, managing project timelines, and ensuring quality of work.
- Liaise with building management to address environmental or facility-related concerns impacting meeting room functionality (lighting, temperature, etc.).
- Set up and test equipment in advance of meetings to ensure smooth operations, including projectors, microphones, video conferencing tools, and speakers.
- Regularly check and maintain meeting room systems and ensure all technical requirements are met before and during events.
- Run the remote meeting system for eight Utah Transportation Commission meetings and other various meetings hosted by UDOT(may require in-state travel)
Minimum Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must:
- Have a valid driver's license
- Have experience troubleshooting AV equipment, computer systems, and network issues.
- Have familiarity with a range of audiovisual tools, including projectors, microphones, and video conferencing software.
- Have strong communication and organizational skills to effectively coordinate with multiple departments.
- Be able to work under pressure and resolve technical issues in real time.
- Have a basic understanding of building systems that may impact meeting rooms (e.g., lighting, HVAC).
- Be able to safely lift and set up technical equipment as needed.
- Be willing and able to travel throughout the State
Preference
Preference may be given to those with at least one of the following:
- Experience working with IT support teams, Crestron systems, Q-SYS core processor, and facilities management
- Experience programming in Lua, Simpl , Simple#, or Python.

- Position is not eligible for remote work
- Travel is required
- Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
- Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
- Employee may be reassigned to a different location as deemed necessary by the Region Director/Group Leader.
