What are the responsibilities and job description for the GAL Attorney - 5th District - St. George/Cedar City position at State of Utah?
Prepares cases by conducting legal research and gathering information.
Makes recommendations, gives appropriate advice, and/or facilitates decisions.
Participates in decision-making and strategy sessions to prepare cases for court.
Writes or drafts correspondence, reports, mediation agreements, documents, and/or other written material.
Represents the best interest of their client(s) in all stages of the case(s) assigned.
Conducts independent investigations, negotiates settlements, and/or attends all mediations and court hearings.
Juris Doctorate and a member in good standing of the Utah Bar Association.
Excellent written and oral advocacy skills.
General understanding of child welfare and/or district court proceedings.
Read and understand the information presented in writing.
Communicate information and ideas concisely and in writing.
General understanding of legal processes and procedures, applicable laws, rules, regulations, and/or policies and procedures, and ability to apply them.
Ability to analyze legal issues and research sound conclusions.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with judges, court staff, allied agencies, and members of the public.
Deal with people in a manner that shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism.
