What are the responsibilities and job description for the Park Ranger II: Jordanelle State Park position at State of Utah?
• Supervise or assist with seasonal staff, including delegating assignments, training, and evaluating performance
• Perform routine maintenance on park grounds, facilities, equipment, and infrastructure
• Operate and maintain small and large equipment
• Provide customer service to visitors, assist with registration, and address guest inquiries
• Participate in comprehensive planning, design, and upkeep of park facilities
• Respond to after-hours park needs, including emergencies and call-outs
Minimum Qualifications:
• Knowledge and experience in general maintenance, including landscaping, janitorial work, plumbing, electrical, and basic repairs
• Experience operating and maintaining a variety of equipment (e.g., snow groomers, mowers, tools)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and prioritize tasks
• Ability to interact professionally with the public and work effectively in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
• Dependable, self-motivated, and proactive in identifying and solving problems
• Experience with snow grooming or willingness to learn
• Familiarity with Division programs and the recreational needs of park visitors
• Interpretive or public education skills
• Experience participating in long-term park planning, design, or construction projects
Working Conditions:
• Must be able to lift, bend, crouch, walk on rough terrain, and stand for extended periods
• Exposure to extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, snow)
• Work may involve risks typical of outdoor, wilderness, boating, or OHV environments
• Must be willing to work weekends and holidays
• Position may include law enforcement-related public safety tasks
Licenses/Certifications:
• Valid driver’s license required
• Background check required if a new employee
• Must complete any state-mandated training (e.g., security awareness, ethics, defensive driving)
Other:
• May be subject to after-hours call-outs and multi-site response responsibilities
• Housing may be available in the form of a park-provided tiny home
