Location: Territorial Statehouse State Park, 50 W. Capitol Ave, Fillmore, UT
Join the team at Utah's first capital in Fillmore! We are seeking a historically minded individual to help guide Territorial Statehouse State Park into the future through innovative interpretive programming, unforgettable family experiences, and outstanding customer service. As a key staff member at this historic site and community hub, you’ll gain valuable hands-on experience in a small museum environment where everyone contributes to a wide variety of essential tasks.
- Develop and deliver interpretive programs for diverse audiences
- Conduct historical research using a variety of sources
- Greet and assist park visitors with excellent customer service
- Maintain and clean facilities using established checklists
- Perform basic maintenance on both historic and modern structures
- Carry out groundskeeping tasks including mowing and snow removal
- Supervise and support seasonal and volunteer staff
- Manage small retail operations, including inventory tracking
- Serve as backup contact for emergency alarm monitoring services
Minimum Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in public history, museum studies, U.S. history, or a related field OR at least four years of professional experience working in a museum or historic site
- Knowledge of Utah and U.S. Western history
- Understanding of historic preservation and museum best practices
- Public speaking ability and comfort engaging with visitors of all ages
Preferred Qualifications
A master’s degree in public history, museum studies, or U.S. historySpecial Working Conditions
- Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays
- Occasional work-related travel required
Other Requirements
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check
