Job Description:
We are searching for a highly motivated, highly skilled, and physically fit wildland fire professional! Salt Lake County is a beautiful location with a fast growing population in the WUI area, a large amount of visitor activity, and substantial wildfire risk. This position is a lead wildland fire official for non-federal lands within the counties. The County Fire Warden works closely with local fire officials throughout the county within the framework of Utah's Cooperative Wildfire System (CWS), as well as coordinating fire suppression activities with federal agencies. The County Fire Warden is responsible for managing delegated wildland fires, coordinating fire prevention and hazardous fuels mitigation activities, supporting wildland training, and managing inventory within the county.
Preferred Qualifications:
- NWCG ICT4, with five or more years of experience as a wildland fire professional.
- Excellent communication skills orally and in writing, with team building skills.
- Documented skills as a Fire Service instructor and/or public education experience.
- Experience in hazardous fuels mitigation.

- Support initial attack and coordinate extended attack on wildland fires with partner agencies.
- Communicate and coordinate at a high level with stakeholders and interagency fire cooperators from local, state, and federal. agencies in support of CWS and interagency cooperative objectives.
- Evaluate, coordinate and implement hazardous fuels treatments on non-federal lands within Salt Lake County.
- Coordinate and implement wildland fire prevention efforts with partner agencies.
- Support wildland training and maintain Incident Qualification System documentation.
- NWCG Single Resource Boss qualification.
- NWCG Incident Commander Type 5.
- Ability to communicate with the public, local government officials and fire personnel in a professional and knowledgeable manner.
- Comfortable with remote work computer systems such as Google Suite and MS Office.

- Wildland fire qualifications and agency certification standards.
- Risks common to wildland fire fighting.
- Must be able to completed arduous pack test and maintain red card.
- Requires periods of intense physical exertion, lifting, stooping, standing, bending, etc.
- This position may require travel.
- Wildland fire assignments may require remote camping under primitive conditions for extended periods.
- Must have valid Driver's License, or ability to obtain Utah Driver's License within 30 days of hire.
- Must be able to obtain a CDL.
- Must be able to pass drug screening.
- Required to be on-call during statutory fire season.
- Must reside in Salt Lake County or ability to relocate to Salt Lake County within 30 days of hire.
